The Box Hill Community Arts Centre is seeking

energetic, responsible, reliable CARTOONIST! for school holiday program

Toon Time is a program for primary school aged children and currently runs on a Monday afternoons. Toon Time Beginners runs from 4.00pm until 5.30pm followed by Toon Time Advanced from 5.45pm – 7.15pm. The Cartooning teacher is responsible for setting the program, which runs for approximately 8 weeks each school term. In the past, the class has explored both Eastern and Western styles of cartooning. Ideally, you will be a cartooning artist, a competent illustrator who can demonstrate different drawing styles and also possess the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to teach. Term 1 classes commence Monday 6 February 2012.

The class runs with a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 12 students. Experience delivering similar cartooning programs is desirable and experience working with children is essential.

You will require a Working with Children’s Check, a current First Aid qualification and are responsible for your own public liability insurance.
This is a contract position, with hours as required throughout the year, the majority being a Monday afternoon.

nevertheless, was able to bump into my first year optics friends. interesting train ride to start the day, really wanted to sleep for half of it, and catch up with Moore College readings and Psalms but.. witnessing to friends is just as important =P

1. the queen is a lot shorter than i expected
2. her mob of security really hid her from being seen well, as she is so little
3. being 2 meters away from her didn't excite me as much as being in the same room Stan Lee will be in the follow day lewl. =P
4. she actually pulls off a bright pink suit
5. crowd wise, there was plenty of walking space in Fed Sq. and compared to Oprah coming.. woah. I was sandwiched, couldn't even make my way back in to Acmi after lunch.

hmm..is that saying something? lol

The movie The Red Shoes is screening at ACMI for you melbourne folks and its worth the watch.
Similar to black swan in the sense its a psych thingy of a ballet dancer, this one is a classic!

so i'm still connected to art movements in melbourne and the new wave projects.
its quite interested times, there are so many exhibits and things happening! ahh..

Rock Solid on now

A new group exhibition curated by former Next Wave curatorial advisor Meredith Turnbull is on now at Pieces of Eight gallery in Melbourne.

Titled Rock Solid, 11 established visual artists have been brought together to explore the relationship that sculpture and installation have to the body. Rock Solid sees the artists making works that are at a scale that can be worn on the body, and is a multifarious and playful exploration of material fictions and imagined truths in the relationships between objects, sculpture and the body.

Rock Solid features work by Next Wave Invisible Structures artists James Deutsher and Christopher L G Hill, with Dan Bell, Anna Ephraim, Bianca Hest er, Leah Jackson, Susan Jacobs, Madeline Kidd (who was in Next Wave's Sports Club 2 last Festival), Dylan Martorell, Rob McHaffie and Masato Takasaka.

Rock Solid is on now until 7 May, 2011.

it's a hilarious movie by Micheal Powell, shot in Australia dealing with what its like to enter a foriegn land, and exposes all the weird stuff Australians are like, the stuff that we Aussies embrace and have no idea why, such as a laid back attitude, crude slang etc etc.
