Captain America: Civil War

didn't have too much expectations which made the movie much more enjoyable hahaa.

it was at this point I thought maybe the screen will go blank and set up for a part 2, since i felt like I was in the cinema for agesss... hahaha in a good sense

simple plot yet excellent execution of character development and screen time.

a recommend.

=]

decent humour too in forms of witty lines.

that bromance

marvel has a smooth way of introducing its next movie lines up. good job. *take my money* lols

Holds breath eeeeeekkk...

So now that Xmen Apocalypse is definitely in the works for a 2016 release date,

Deadpool, Gambit and the much anticipated and goina-be-fantastically-awesome-X-Force has been delayed.... not even sure if X-Force will actually be made anymore.. niuuuuu

and Kick Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow's script for it was said to be "beyond impressive"

xmen days of future past..

wow..
very glad bryan singer came back to direct this.
i gotta say even the opening sequence of DNA bubbles got me.
brilliant orchestration of cast members on screen.
could feel the old xmen  and X2 times

as for story, still believable.
action - action with purpose, plenty of it and not mindless like Transformers of PacificRim :P
suspense - plenty of it
humour - to a decent degree aka. quicksilver's sequence
music - hmmm. opening scenes have the glory, thorough the rest of the film didnt pay that much attention to the score.
death scenes - epic and many

i dunno what im goina think when they recast wolverine. jackman is too good :P
on a side note, which i had this power ...would come great in awkward or sticky situations... :P

Everything is AWESOME!!

lol i just got back form watching lego movie
hmm don't have a time to do a decent full review

but i say over all 7.5/10.
- humour 9/10
- predictability - ZERO lol. that is saying something. pleasantly surprised

The song is super catchy
my reaction :

jokes, puns and visual humour ran excessively throughout the film, although to the same degree as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, i think it was smoother and less of an ear-sore. Ironically this was due to the fact that lego itself is edgy and stop start in motion, and therefore, the you can get away with jokes that a also stop start in nature. Where as in Meatballs, the animation was 3D hinting at seamless continuity and therefore the really bad puns stood out intensely so.

Hmm. with more time i will flesh this out in a cinema essay one day.

thesis title : the limitations and amplifications of a medium to entertain.

for another day..

back to cramming for physics. eeeeek!!

Review_ Like Someone in Love

So yes, I did manage to get a free entry into seeing this film I mentioned earlier *link*
*pic source*
Alrighty, so let me share my thoughts.

Director: Abbas Kiarostami
Main characters from left to right: Takashi Watanabe (Tadashi Okuno), Akiko (Rin Takanashi) and Noriaki (Ryo Kase)

First thing. I loved the way the film started. Credits roll with the backdrop of a busy restaurant/cafe noise for at least 4minutes, builds you up to anticipate the opening shot of what dining in Japan may be like. It also felt like we had just finished watching a movie too.

The camera then was mostly in a static position, as you watched what was a rather ordinary happening in a dim lit bar. Who is the main character you wonder? A red head catches your attention but is only a red herring.

Plot - A dilemma comes up for young university student Akiko is faced with a must attend job and her grandma visiting Tokyo only for a brief few hours during her transit. Akiko is a prostitute and it was a job she isn't allowed to refuse. You never meet the grandmother , nor does she ever talk to her, we are introduced to a character simply through a series of telephone voicemail messages. CLEVER! The whole time Akiko is listening to the messages in the taxi on her way to her "job", the camera remains fixed on a close up of her face as the blur of neon japan whizzes pass.

Amongst all this she has a boyfriend who intends to marry her, is not sure he can trust her and thinks Mr. Watanabe is her grandfather.

Mise en scène  - ★  . The way the props/set was arranged in front of the mostly still camera was incredible. It was very purposeful and the background/items/placement of objects told just as much of the story as the script.
Camera -  ★ The camera did a lot of the talking in the film, in the sense of showing us life in Japan, the streets, the shops, the apartments. Mid shots were used to capture all that was in the background, giving the characters depth since there wasn't too much dialogue or on screen drama.

I cannot reveal anymore. It is a slow moving film and it's what is not shown or said that makes this one worth watching. It you have an eye for detail and are a film student then the happenings are predictable and set up through the mise en scène. But apart from that the ending is still a surprise in some ways.

Overall -

Bottom line - Don't walk in with specific expectations, just sit back, observe and enjoy =P

Iron Man 3: mass production

So you ask my thoughts on the matter?

I'm probably not the best person to ask, as I haven't seen the second one.

But lemme put it this way. What I look for and what I give IronMan 3

Cinematography- ★
Script - ★★★★ (witty, scored laugh out loud moments)
Plot - ★1/2  (predicatable.. so ..this fails in my books)
Visual Effects - ★★★★
Casting - ★★★★★ (believable roles and characters, although there was very little depth, ironic ...considering the lengthy movie)
Editing - ★★★ (smooth , seemless, nothing spectacular)
Sound - ★★★

In sum - ★★

Sorry folks, I'm not a fan of the Iron Man . But going off just the plot, there was nothing new, nothing mind bending in terms of twists and story layers. Found myself asking half way. ..wow not much has happened , this is boring, when will the climax come because there is no build up.

Dissappointed. Dunno why the cinema clapped afterwards >.>
p.s. Stan Lee could have got a better 2 seconds of screen time too =.-
