The movie The Red Shoes is screening at ACMI for you melbourne folks and its worth the watch.
Similar to black swan in the sense its a psych thingy of a ballet dancer, this one is a classic! The Red Shoes

Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, 138 mins, UK, 1948,

Powell and Pressburger's 1948 screen classic tells the story of a talented dancer, Vicky Page (Moira Shearer), who is initiated into the mysteries of a touring Russian ballet company and falls in love with its talented composer.

Australian-born Royal Ballet star Sir Robert Helpmann danced the role of Ivan and was also the film's choreographer, contributing to the unparalleled artistry of the film's iconic fantasy-ballet sequence.

"Passion drives every extraordinary moment of The Red Shoes...it's what makes the film's glorious Technicolor images so forceful and moving" Martin Scorsese, The Film Foundation
