WONDER CON!!!!!
was an incredible experience.
i dunno how to put this but..the moscone centre in San Francisco is epically huge. Out bigs Melbourne exhibition centre anyday. Kinda felt like the entire grounds of the Melbourne show but placed under a big roof. hmm..an exaggeration possibly. but it was HUGE.firstly, just walking to the station to pick up my badge took 4mins after entering the building.
There were a tonne! of people from all backgrounds. Many westerners dressed up as anime-like characters. Kinda creepy but very picturesque.
C.B. Cebulski, SVP creator & content development;
Axel Alonso, Marvel's editor-in-chief;
Jeph Loeb, Marvel's head of television
and Jason something who was an artist =] (i don't have my notes with me so apologies for forgetting the surname)
They answered questions about how to get a foot in the door at every level in the creative process and how to make your job Marvel. really cool.
another talk i attended was The Secret Origins of Game Designers. one word summary: happenstance. getting into the industry to them was really a work of luck combined with talent and friendly people that noticed them.
picked up many freebies such as badges, a hello kitty eye patch (strange i know), children's book signed by author Ragnar, pretty pictures.
Comics were selling for as low as $1 each!! Dang i spent so much XD, and i dunno when i will read them, but i did manage to find some comics i have been looking for since four years ago. AWESOME.
on a creepy note. some random nerd started talking to me as i was 110% focusing on flicking through the boxes of comics trying to find Uncanny Xmen #479 - 486, having no luck. I probably took 1min before I realised he was talking to me.
"you like Xmen I see"
"yes, why I do" *continues flicking through the boxes*
(insert talk and conversation I didn't take note of)
"...you look exactly like my ex-girlfriend"
@_@!!!! SAY WHAT?!?!!! turns around and looks at his face and smiles awkwardly
"well, nice to meet you too, don't put any assumptions of your ex-girlfriend onto me"
then he spent the next hour or so walking with me around the stalls >.>
nice guy ..but too random. even for the likes of me.
=.=" sigh. why do I have a generic face that pops up everywhere. people also think im korean. how weird.
