Attica!

it has been a while since I have posted
partly as im not at home anymore with a desktop and the laptop-to-desk-to-arm-to-chair-ratio is slightly off, so im not on much.

and also because photobucket has decided you need to pay to access your own images to be hosted on a website. bleh. =.=. top header of xmen disappeared for that reason.

anywho
tonight was a tick the item off the list night with no.34 restaurant in the world, Melbourne's very own Attica.

David took most of the photos which snaps a bit away from the experience (lewl take that as you wish). I prefer to DIG IN. But it was a fun night indeed. Esp the part of strolling out back to their garden where they grew everything that ended up on our plate. Definitely special.

And to walk past the kitchen and all the staff happy to be there and working away with genuine smiles. One even encouraged us to eat the strawberries from the garden =] You wouldn't be able to fake happiness if you work everyday and dish out the same menu. So that was definitely a pleasant sight to see.

What I loved was the authentic australian if not Melbourne involvement from the food to utensils to decor to lighting. Tributes to the local neighbourhood and its unique contribution to the lifestyle around there was spot on.

Worth a visit i'll say.

I've been meaning to post my random Saturday adventures but since it isnt that easy to upload photos to my mac, i've been delayed.

So in sum - you never know what will happen , where time takes you, or who you will bump into!

Two hours later. BUMP INTO THEM ON THE STREET! uncanny.
Wondering up strange buildings that make us wonder how it got legally approved,
could not access the fire stairs and had many posters of warnings about 'in-case-lift-isn't-working-call-xxx'.
lewl. Finding out "The House of Delight" was actually a dessert store and not something else :P
Training into the CBD to assist with providing food to the homeless/rough.
Bump into more friends I havent seen since call centre days  - yes we should catch up - pencil it in
Party party in the evening.
It's nice to be of an age where we can party at someone's house. haha nice and cosy
hmmmmm...and best homemade icecream ever!!

original plans to go to Abbortsford convent bounced
and two mins later
- optom appt (good things eyesight is stable)
- lunch at HK dimmies! yum yum , pretty cheap $16 for yumcha
- watched another ep of Ronny Chieng International Student , hilarious as usual.
- caught up with an ol family friend that I havent seen in YONKS! and woahla a townhouse is his!
lots of fun poking my head in the new-smell-abode ^^" over munching vietnamese rice paper rolls.

2015...

okay so just had an insane incredibly 2 day weekend in sydney of the following
- wedding!!! congradz Brian & Joy. so happy!!
- catching up with friends
- sharing the gospel
- bumming into people randomly
- drama of people missing flights
- staying over at friend's friend's friend's house! lol
- playing around with my new camera (thanks guys for the present!!)
- survived wearing high shoes
- car rides, getting lost, and stuck in traffic
- seeing a bus tyre explosion
- bumping into Julian Morrow at PappaRich of all places hahaa
- playing on playgrounds
- enjoying the sunshine
- discussions on doctrine & life
- chillaxing over icecream & drinks
- having been stopped and asked "why are you so happy?"
- making people's days and challenging lives
- introducing friends to new friends!!!!!! much fun.

Left Gasping for More

Not much was disclosed in regards to Angelique Ross, Dylan Rodriguez and Luke Hubbard’s project At The Last Gasp apart from the brief outline of the performance’s aim to capture the inevitable presence of death, through a series of emotive vignettes. However before you turn away at this morbid introduction, let me tell you this description does not serve the show justice. It was a night of epic entertainment, energy, emotion and engagement and here’s why.

As you walk in to take your seat the stage is dimly lit framed with beer bottles and a rather limp lonely figure collapsed on a bed. You are curious as to how this will play out…. death by alcohol? The vignettes all begin with stillness accompanied by carefully sourced extremely fitting soundtracks that highlight the mood to paint the scene both emotionally and visually. Where there was a lack of props the clever use of every day sound effects brought to life the setting, convincing the viewer they are either waiting at train station, at a hospital or simply watching a couple having a meal at their dinner table. Death by drink, illness, love, passion and monotony were all fleshed out and embodied on stage.

NICA students Ross, Rodriguez and Hubbard utilized minimalism to their advantage. With less sparkles and fancy sets or costumes to distract the audience, you are instead drawn to focus deeply on their every move. Bodies, limbs and movements all so carefully organized and constructed to the rhythm of the music are sure to leave you with a spine tingling sensation. When the trio captured fear – you felt it; struggle – you felt it; humour – you felt it. It was an amalgamation of circus, physical theatre and play that evolved as the night progressed transitioning from death to solitude to jazz to ecstatic fun.

All in all, it was a well-balanced orchestration of a difficult taboo topic injected with talented acrobatics, emotive movement, meaning and laughter, which left the audience gasping for more.
