Academy of Science | de Young | Japantown

so this saturday after the wreck of a boat party that ended at 1am friday night, i manged to pull my eye lids awake for a 11am venture into San Francisco.

My lovely friends YuChung and Susie were able to join. yay! thankfully, susie knew the way in and out and about, so zilch navigating on my part.
I wish we took the bus (partly because its free) but more so because the BART makes my ears pop like crazy when we go through the tunnels. Ugh. the pain.

As Susie and I were trying different ways to unblock our ears, a random lady opposite us commented " ah you remind me of my daughter when she was in college..." then something along the lines of enjoy your youth, whilst it lasts >.> getting older seems to be something that we cannot escape.

anywho, back to SF.
First stop. California Academy of Sciences.
the worlds LARGEST PLANETARIUM! also was a living roof, rainforest inside and an aquarium.
totally worth it. pity the two guys fell asleep during the awesome show about space and life and our galaxy >.> geez.
learnt how to use the supermacro function on my camera!

jellyfish. so mesmerizing... @_@
they changed colours too!

Second stop was de Young museum, which.. ugh.. we didnt really venture into any exhibits as you had to pay lots, but there was a nice 9th floor observation deck, kinda like the Eureka in Melbourne. Saw SF and the view around the academy of sciences. pretty.

Then JAPAN TOWN!
purpose: to buy these funky watercolor kits the artists at wondercon were using.
didnt end up finding the right ones. and they were uber $_$
niffy town, only half a street long. but did enjoy the stores in the mall.

dinner was ramen! at a restaurant by the name of something along the lines of Iroha,
which appeared to be run by actual Japanese people.

green tea cream. yum!

a random find in japantown stores_

The warning on the cup reads " This product may contain a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer, or birth defect or other reproductive harm."

you can never be too keen on not being sued it seems. =P
