pen to paper 3.05PM

Since the introduction of video games in society there have been phases and crazes which follow that involve continuous hours of play in many different ways. Whether games are experienced alone in the privacy of one’s bedroom or together with fellow gamers at a LAN, there is always a degree of bodily immersion. The degree of bodily immersion may be directly correlated to the success of the game itself The design of a game may challenge, not only the fine motor control over one’s fingers for mastering a console but it explores all the senses bringing forth interactivity and enhancing the bodily experience. In many games, this is achieved though the concept of the avatar (Dovey & Kennedy 2006). 3D realism may assist this process but isn’t integral to the embodied experience.
