another australian music find

Sydney guy Tim Reid

http://www.moneyforpetrol.com

similar to tamas wells.. but not quite.
less overlays of melodies. and more raw guitar =]
and listen to stuff here *link*

"...records his own music and plays most of the instruments. The result is the sort of rustic, folksy, pop sound born of acoustic guitars, a delicate vocal approach, much time and much care."

hmm i have a heart for melbourne/local music =P
second choice - Icelandic lol!
its all the in the voice....

next guy Ben Salter of Brisbane Queensland.

now this guy i ain't too big a fan of (in terms of voice or music)
but i am interested in the construction of this music vid.
not of the subject, but of the motion/movement involved over the simplistic scene,
reminds me of the opening credits of TrainSpotting
this constant upbeat pace, driven by the camera.

the local-ness and simplicity of editing, consisting mainly of jump cuts
interesting, and effective.

recently played at Melb NorthCote Social Club,

there is something raw and appealing in australian music
simple | guitar | lyrics

more of his stuff: http://bensaltermusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-cat
opportunity is an okay listen

and

JENNY M. THOMAS AND THE SYSTEM

a collection of traditional Australian bush songs re-worked and planted firmly in the 21st century. Songs of criminal women and convict men are given dark edged arrangements with moody rhodes, drumkit, double bass, fiddle-singing and, of course, the spoons.

It's aussie folk with a twisted twist >.> if i dare lame say =P

their recent album is "bush gothic"
started up in 09, Her voice is pretty good =]
sample some of their stuff *link**link* (quite like A Nautical Yarn)

plug_ they are playing TONIGHT! @ The Toff 7.30pm
and Oct 12th at the The Paris Cat Jazz Club.. anyone want to come with?? =]
hmm..wait i should check to see if i have band rehearsal first lewl
